Weight Gain Nutrition

The nutritious way to gain weight is by dropping nearly all sugar and fat carbs and loading up on protein and good carbs, like the ones you get in pastas, bread, and other high carb foods. If it doesn't have much sugar and a diabetic can't have it, those are the foods that you will want to eat.

Weight Gain Dieting

Weight gain can be brought about by good healthy dieting. However, instead of dropping calories, you will be adding calories. In order to gain weight at a healthy and nutritious rate, you will want to add about 500 more calories to your diet, mainly of protein and good carbs. If you are diabetic, then you will have to use mainly unsaturated proteins. You will need to eat lots of nuts, and lessen the amount of meats. This will give you the calories you need without overloading your saturated fats that higher your already elevated risk of heart disease. Then you will need to eat more food than usual, increasing your calories.

Weight Gain Meals

The basic principle of weight gain is to eat more calories than your body digests. It takes 3500 calories to add one pound to your body, so you will need to eat 500 calories more a day than you can digest. Count your calories and see how many you are eating each day. Do this for a couple of weeks, then average it out. Then eat the same, but add a 500 calorie meal or snack at the end of the day. This will increase your calories enough to give you a pound by the end of the week. If you can, instead of adding an extra meal, try eating about 200 calories more per meal. This will probably be easier than trying to remember to add an extra meal at the end of the day. This is a little less healthy, but isn't too bad for you.

So by either adding a meal, or eating more every meal, you can add enough calories to help you add a pound a day. This is the easiest and most healthy way to gain weight in a nutritious manner.
