There are certain types of people that have an actual need to gain weight. These people are those that are too thin to be healthy. Healthy Weight Gain

Healthy weight gain is done by gaining a little weight at a time, not by bulking up all at once. If you want to gain weight healthily, then you should gain by eating more protein, eating 5 or 6 meals a day, and doing a sort of body building routine, like lifting weights. Aerobic exercise is not a good idea because it will cause you to lose weight and mass. You can try protein shakes like ones that have creatine or glutamine in them to increase your mass. This will bring you up to a more healthy weight for your height.

Bad Weight Gain

Eating a bunch of sugars and fat like those found in candy is not a healthy way of gaining weight. These will cause you to be even more unhealthy than you already are and make you feel tired and sickly. This is very bad and could create an even worse problem than you already have.

If you are wanting to gain weight quickly for some reason and are thinking of doing it in an unhealthy manner, remember that this can cause you to die younger and will reduce your overall health very dramatically.
